Students at Inala State School have access to programs in the 8 Key Learning Areas: English, Mathematics, Science, Study of Society and Environment, Health and Physical Education, the Arts, Technology and German in Years 4 to 7. All students have access to a computer lab and the school has employed the services of an IT technician to provide technology assistance for staff, students and parents. Curriculum planning is outcome based with year level teachers planning together. Four key learning areas: Science, Studies of Society and the Environment, Technology, and Health and Physical Education, are integrated. Assessment is linked to planning and student needs. Semester Reports are based on learning outcomes and End of Unit Reports are provided for parents at the end of the three integrated units of work.
Additional learning support is provided on a needs basis to students experiencing difficulties with literacy and numeracy, students with intellectual impairment, autistic spectrum disorder or a speech-language impairment and students with non-English speaking background. In-class enrichment activities are organised to extend gifted and talented students.
The social and cultural development of students is fostered through sport, music, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander education and a range of extra-curricular activities such as camps, excursions, clubs, competitions and performances.
The school's curriculum framework has a strong focus on 'engaging with learning' and is supported by high quality, relevant learning resources.
All Year 7 students participate in an annual trip to Sydney, Canberra and the Snow Mountains. This yearly event is actively supported by the school community.
