Inala State School provides various opportunities for students to enjoy the world of music through activities including classroom music lessons, choir, and instrumental program. These are taught by the highly qualified and passionate music teachers.

Inala State School has two choirs that involve junior students from year 3 and senior students from year 4 to 6.  These choirs rehearse at lunch breaks and perform at various functions at school and in the wider community. All students are welcome to join the choir. Please see the music teacher for more information.

Instrumental Music is an extension program for students enrolled in year levels 4, 5 and 6. Instructors teach lessons in percussion, woodwind and brass instruments. The main objectives of this program are to afford students the opportunity to participate in a group music performance situation and develop skills on their selected instrument. Students who participate in the instrumental program have a half-hour lesson in school time and ensemble practice before school.  Ensembles perform at various functions and events throughout the year.

Instrumental tuition is free, although a levy of $35 is paid to support the program and maintain instruments. Some instruments are available for loan from the school. At the end of the year, all students in year 3 complete a musical ability test. Successful students are selected for the program to commence in year 4.

Students who have previously learned an instrument at another school are encouraged to approach their teacher, or the instrumental music teacher about joining the program at Inala State School.
