Enrolment process


Step 1. 

To find out if you live in our catchment, please view the DET's EdMap and type in your address. For more information regarding our catchment area, please visit our Catchment area information page.


Step 2.

If you fall in our catchment area please contact our school office between 8:00am and 4:00pm to organise an interview.


Step 3. 

Complete an enrolment application pack for your child's year level. This can be downloaded from the website or collected from the office before your interview.​


Step 4. 

Bring your completed application for enrolment pack along with birth certificate, proof of address and passport/visa/immigration card (if applicable).


Step 5. 

You will be informed by the school regarding the success of your application following the interview.


Inala State School is governed by an Enrolment Management Plan (EMP) (PDF, 208KB) with a clearly defined catchment area determined by Department of Education and Training (DET). Inala State School can only accept applicants within this catchment zone.


Frequently asked questions


  1. When are enrolments taken?

    Applications for enrolments at Inala state school can be made at any time throughout the school year. For Prep enrolments for the upcoming year, please contact the office in June for more information. Please contact the office to collect an enrolment package, as well as to set a time for an enrolment interview.

  2. Is Prep compulsory?
    From 2017 it is compulsory for all Queensland children to undertake Prep prior to commencing Year 1. Making Prep compulsory ensures all children develop the knowledge and skills provided by the Prep Year that form the foundation for future learning. For more information refer to the Enrolling page on the Education website.

  3. What type of proof do I need to enrol my child in Prep?

    According to the Department, to enrol in Prep, children must be aged five years by 30 June in the year of proposed attendance (see question 4 for prep ready reckoner) and you must provide proof of your child’s date of birth and you must provide proof of your child’s date of birth (e.g. birth certificate, passport or visa).

  4. At what age is my child ready for Prep?
    Children must be five by 30 June in the year they enrol in the Preparatory Year to determine which year your child is eligible for Prep. The upcoming prep years are listed below for your convenience. For more information regarding this process please visit the prep ready reckoner.

    Prep 2025: 01/07/2019 - 30/06/2020

    Prep 2026: 01/07/2020 - 30/06/2021

    Prep 2027: 01/07/2021 - 30/06/2022

  5. What is proof of address?
    Proof of address should be a document that includes both your name and address: examples are rates/electricity account, rental agreements, bank statement, driver's licence, and electoral commission enrolment.

  6. What do I need to bring to the interview?

    Please bring your proof of address, your completed Student Enrolment package, your child's birth certificate or passport, any report cards or information from their previous school, and the child you are wishing to enrol. 

  7. What if I don't understand some of the questions in the enrolment pack?

    There is no need to stress if you don't understand some of the questions in the enrolment package. The interview is also in place for you to ask the school any questions you have, and we will happily assist you with the enrolment pack.
