Every minute of every day counts at Inala State School. Our school day begins at 8:45 and finishes at 2:45. It is expected that all students attend school during these hours. Your child/ren benefit from attending school every day including academic and social.
Working collaboratively with you, as parents and carers, is highly beneficial for our students. Should any concerns arise regarding your child's attendance, in the first instance contact your child's teacher.
Explaining Absences
We understand that children get sick or there may be appointments that are not able to be made outside of the school hours. Should this occur, notify the school office by ringing 3372 0777 and leave a message on the student absence mailbox. You are able to leave a message 24 hours a day.
Late Arrivals
If your child arrives at school after 9am, they have already been marked absent from school for the morning and must report to the office to request a 'late slip'. It is the adult's responsibility to explain the reason for the child being late to school, therefore the parents or carers must walk into the office with their child to explain the reason for the late arrival.
Unexplained absences
An SMS will be sent to families, before 10am each day, for parents and carers to reply and explain unexplained absences from school. For the safety of our students, please contact the office to explain your child's absence. If your child is absent for 3 days and the absence is unexplained, a letter will be sent to you asking for an explanation.
Absences of 10 days or more
In some circumstances, there may be reasons for a child to be absent from school for longer than 10 days. In these circumstances an “Application for Exemption from Schooling" is to be made to the Principal for approval. Contact the school office for further information about this procedure.
